Fish Bites: Friday, March 15th

Every Thursday in 2024, just in time for you to get ready for the weekend ahead, we here at ANGLERS Fly Shop bring you Fish Bites. Not another bloated, out of date fishing report, just a few of the most important, need to know updates on #BoiseAnglers favorite local fisheries.

Everything you need to know, nothing you don’t.

This Week:

  • Owyhee River: Flows are up! Be careful! We’ve all been hearing about the day-to-day updates on the Owyhee, but, what’s the plan? We suspect that flows will remain at the 1000 cfs mark for a matter of weeks, before increasing to as much as 2-3,000 through April potentially into May. Long story short - we suggest taking the Owyhee off your watch list for the foreseeable future.

  • South Fork of the Boise River : Fishing improving, jig streamers are working with the occasional Baetis hatch keeping it interesting on top. That said, it’s one of the better games in town so it’s going to be quite busy down there.

  • Stillwater Update: The ice has receded and the now iced-out waters are warming. Mountain View and Crane Falls are starting to fish. Probably the call for this weekend if you want to dodge the crowds, and the water. Have at it.
